How to sell an idea.
Something that I am convinced is that we are all salesmen. And in the constant search to find ways to improve our professional activity, I remembered some of the recommendations I have heard from several successful experts on the subject.
1. What does it take to sell an idea?
Many people are unable to sell because we sell products, services or ideas that we do not believe in. The first thing we are told is to feel passion for that idea. If you feel the passion you will inspire confidence and security. But will it be enough with only enthusiasm and passion? Selling is also a method, and it is a form, a concrete way of acting and doing when we are with a client.
2. What do I need to know about a prospect before I try to sell him something?
Preparing the sale is important, knowing who my client is and what he is looking for,
will make you spend less energy on what is not worth it. Before visiting a client try to get to know him more widely.
3. Do you have a strategy when presenting a business proposal and how much time do you spend?
Since you have had previous talks and you already have enough information, the next step is to establish the strategy to follow.
Focus your energy to prepare a business presentation or proposal that will captivate the client.
To do this, it is necessary to provide greater visual content; A video, photos or diagrams that enhance your proposal. This will give you a higher probability of being chosen.
There are presentations that can take me a full day to prepare them and another 30 minutes this will pay at the end.
4. What does it take for the prospect to move from feeling "he is selling" to feeling "I am buying"?
This is one of the treasures that we are always looking for and that is why we have to motivate more than to inform.
5. How does public speaking relate to selling?
They are similar disciplines. Especially if public speaking we consider it as an act of communication. Use the right language and words, know how to use gestures, tone and body language more effectively, know how to interpret it, know how to sensitize your audience so that you are receptive to an idea you are going to say. All this is what makes them very similar.
The Toastmasters program helps you develop those selling, communicator, and motivator skills. It also prepares you to be able to make effective and convincing presentations. All that can be learned, but with us, you can put it into practice and with a recurrent practice and honest feedback, you will improve and master it.
